2017 AtoZ Guide to Rhodes

“Our aim is to offer the most comprehensive travel guide to Rhodes”!

The 2017 edition of the ‘A to Z Guide to Rhodes, including Symi’ is available from most major book retailers world-wide. The ‘A to Z Guide to Rhodes’ is the latest book in the unique ‘A to Z’ series of travel guides, renowned for their comprehensive, accurate and impartial approach. Our Rhodes travel guide covers all aspects of the island, its history and the many attractions to be found on Rhodes, including information on excursions to the nearby island of Symi. The ‘A to Z Travel Club’, hosted on this website, vastly increases the information on Rhodes available to the reader. (Travel Club link)

Tony Oswin, author of the ‘A to Z’ series of travel guides, is a British expatriate who now lives on the Greek island of Thassos. He realised the need for such guides during his many holidays on the Greek islands, finding it always difficult, costly and time consuming acquiring comprehensive and up to date information. He also found that the vast majority of travel guides are published and then just re-printed year after year, meaning that the information contained within, ends up inaccurate and out of date, the ‘A to Z’ series is very different:-

Firstly, our guide books are completely revised each year with all the latest news and changes on the islands for the forthcoming summer season.

Secondly, our objective is to offer our readers a unique source of the very latest news and information from the islands. To this end, purchase of any of our books grants you FREE membership of the ‘A to Z Travel Club’, allowing full access to all the Rhodes web pages, where you will find the latest news on attractions, festivals, music and cultural events, travel news and a vast range of tourist related information and advice (updated every day during the summer). It also allows us to include a range of ‘member’ discounts offered by businesses on the islands, meaning that rather than costing you, our guides can actually save you money!  (Travel Club discounts).

Thirdly, most travel guides ‘pad out’ their publications with pictures of nondescript pretty alleyways and beaches that are of little help to the reader. We wanted to offer much more and at a higher quality than is possible in a ‘paper-back’ format. So to achieve this and at no extra cost to the book purchaser, we moved all the media onto this website. In the Rhodes ‘Gallery’, Travel Club members will find over 90 high quality 2D and unique 3D photographs, panoramas, videos and webcams. The photographs have a brief description and the relevant page number in the book, so that you can read more about the subject.

All this is aimed at offering the holidaymaker a series of unique travel guides that accurately and comprehensively cover all the subjects of interest, to help ensure a visit to the Greek islands is truly memorable and problem free.

Fully updated for the 2017 summer season!

    Dear Tony,

I received my new Rhodes, including Symi 2017 guide book on Monday, I ordered it on Friday, so very fast service.

I’ve had a quick look at the Travel Club members sections and they are very good and a great addition to check on, before and while on holiday.

This is a great guide book, with loads of additional information via your website.

    Thanks again,

    William Lumsden.

  2. Been to Rhodes twice before and the Greek islands many …

Been to Rhodes twice before and the Greek islands many times. I am always on the look out for a guide book that can inform me about things I don’t know. Tony Oswin has cracked it , this informative and interesting. Pity no photos that would have bee the icing on the cake.

    A to Z Reply:-

First, we sincerely thank you for your very complimentary 5 Star review. However, with regard to photographs of Rhodes island, our aim has always been to offer the highest quality travel guides possible.

As we update and republish the books each year to keep them fully up to date, inclusion of colour photographs would substantially increase the retail cost of the book. Travel guides which do include colour photographs are invariably printed in large numbers so as to reduce the unit cost. This means that they may stay on sale for many years, leading to the information within becoming increasingly out of date.

Therefore to offer our readers the latest book information at a reasonable cost, we decided to host the island photographs on this website, where we could not only add many more, but also of a much higher quality and include videos. The Rhodes photo gallery includes 48 2D, 39 3D photos and 10 videos. The photographs have both a brief description and a page number in the book, where you will find further details on the image subject.

We hope this answers your comment.

    Great pictures

We had to leave this review as we purchased the Rhodes guide for a recent holidayand found it brilliant. So much so that when we were recommending it to friends today we saw the review “ No Pictures”. Obviously the reviewer hasn’t read the book or looked at the supporting website as there are over 90 high quality photos and videos on the website as well as much more. Great travel guide and highly recommended!

    Don’t buy for Symi info

I was desperately seeking a book with information on Symi. This book said “including Symi” which turned out to be 1 page with nothing on the island particularly, just how to get there etc. Disappointment.

    A to Z Guides reply:

    Dear ChrisM,

We are sorry that our travel guide is not quite what you expected, but as I am sure you are aware, there are actually 3 pages, not 1 on Symi as you state, plus there is further information on booking trips to the island. We added Symi, as it is one of the main day trip destination from Rhodes. Therefore the guide book is entitled Rhodes, including Symi, not Rhodes and Symi. Our website, which you are recommended to visit on Amazon, gives full details of the books content and coverage. We have received a number of e-mails from those who have visited Symi on a day trip, all of who have commented that the information given was very helpful.

  7. 5 Stars

    Great guide book

My son bought this guide book for our holiday last year and we found it excellent! The book is full of useful information and the website and discount scheme are the “icing on the cake”. We are hoping to go to Santorini this year and will be definitely looking to purchase their guide book to help us get the most out of the holiday.
